Case Study: building a community site for the Centre for Social Innovation with Open Atrium
For the past year I've been working with the Centre for Social Innovation to build a new site for their members, using the relatively new OpenAtrium Drupal installation profile. The site should be live around the time of Drupal Camp Toronto 2010.
The Centre is a kind of shared-workspace-plus for innovative/non-profit types in Toronto, and is also the host of most of the Toronto Drupal Users Group meetings, and many of our individual members' offices as well.
Aside from the usual complexities of intranets, this one had a requirement of a complex workflow system for new applicants that connects into the organizational listing pages at the end of the process, and a custom-built Drupal booking system module that needed to be integrated.
I'll give you all an inside tour of a sandbox version of the site, tell some stories of the development process, and in particular show how OpenAtrium was and was not useful.
